The son of Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari has expressed his disappointment with the team’s season, as apart from Lewis Hamilton’s victory in the Chinese sprint race and Charles Leclerc’s podiums, the team has only had poor and mediocre performances. The highlight of these came at the Qatar Grand Prix, where Ferrari managed to collect just four points out of a possible 33.
In an interview with RMC Motori, the 80-year-old Italian did not hide his sadness about the image of the “Praising Horse”. “After a race like that, there is not much to say. It is a blow and a punch in the stomach. It hurts to see a Ferrari like that”, he said. Ferrari expressed his relief that the year is coming to an end, with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: “I console myself thinking that there is still one more race left, the last of the season, and then we will put this championship aside”.

Despite his bitterness, Ferrari drew a glimmer of hope from the team’s rich history of overcoming adversity. “In Ferrari’s history, we’ve had ups and downs. It happens in racing. I remember the crisis of the 1990s, and the triumphs that followed,” he said. “There are many things that work in Maranello, even though some things have failed this year.”
Concluding with optimism, Ferrari added that he is confident that the team will return to its winning ways: “The difficult part is putting it all together to get the most out of it, and I am sure we will do that. I am confident in the good things we have at home, and as a fan, I hope we can put all the pieces of the puzzle in place. Ferrari will win again. We certainly do not give up. I know the excellent people we have at our disposal.”
